✦ Handcrafted in Kilmacolm, Scotland ✦
Each wand a living thing — chosen by the wood, shaped by tradition, born to find its keeper.
✦ The Craft
Nestled in the quiet village of Kilmacolm, Wandering Wood is a one-person workshop where each wand is listened for before it is made. We source our wood locally — from the river valleys of Renfrewshire, the ancient birch stands of the Clyde Muirshiel, and beyond.
No two wands are alike. Each is shaped by hand, carved with intent, and finished with beeswax and botanical oils. Some take days. Some take weeks. All take time to become what they are meant to be.
"The wood chooses as much as you do."
✦ Our Woods
We work with a curated selection of Scottish and European woods, each with its own character, grain and spirit.
Silver Birch
The pioneer tree. Light in the hand, quick in the mind — suited to new beginnings, creativity and clarity of purpose.
Oak
The heartwood of Scotland. Enduring and steadfast, oak wands carry the patience of centuries and the strength of roots.
Rowan
The most sacred tree in Scottish tradition. Protective by nature, with a fine, even grain that hums with quiet authority.
Driftwood Ash
Drawn from the shores of the Firth of Clyde. Each piece is tide-worn, singular, and carries the memory of the sea.
Wild Cherry
Warm reddish grain with deep lustre. Wands of wild cherry are said to be companions in love and joyful endeavour.
Blackthorn
A wood with edges. Dense, dark and formidable — for those who need a wand that does not flinch from the difficult path.
Hazel
The tree of wisdom and water-finding. Hazel wands bend readily to knowledge-seeking and gentle intuitive work.
Elder
Given sparingly. Elder demands respect and returns it. The oldest magic in Scottish lore runs through its pale wood.
